Auto-Graphics has announced the development of AGent Iluminar, a next generation Web Services application for the company's library automation platform. AGent Iluminar was built using the free open source Flex framework, which provides end-to-end development of rich Internet applications that run identically on all major browsers and operating systems. AGent Iluminar provides a more visual and interactive user experience to facilitate social networking, and "drag and drop" customization capabilities for an improved user experience and administrative workflow.
AGent Iluminar provides library customers with access to Web 2.0 functionality through a RIA environment that offers a multifaceted user experience not possible with using HTML web applications alone. With the application developed on the open source Flex framework, AGent Iluminar transfers processing to the web client to provide faster transitions and better software performance utilizing less bandwidth. In addition, it enables a higher level of expression from the end user, with new functionality that includes an interactive gallery of jacket art, dynamic retrieval and sorting of results and lists displays, the ability for the user to manipulate the presentation of vector-based data on the fly and a variety of additional customization capabilities that can be performed by the end user.
