To be in the presence of Marc Canter is to be surrounded by sound, sometimes mellifluous, sometimes strident, always entertaining.
Way back in the early Microsoft CD-ROM Conference days, when a generation of multimedia-oriented developers and entrepreneurs would gather round the salmon trough at Redmond's annual shindig, Canter would be among those holding court in a crowd that featured everyone from original Apple Fellow Alan Kay, hypertext pioneer Ted Nelson, and Lotus chairman Mitch Kapor to "BillG" himself, then worth less than a billion dollars.
Canter was the genius behind Macromind, the company later became known as Macromedia, with Director its prominent early product. A big falling-out ensued, and Canter has been less than pleased with his former company for far longer than a decade.
Now in the wake of this week's announcement that Adobe is acquiring Macromedia, it's no surprise that Marc Canter has something to say. Here is the link to his views on the subject...
