Abbott, who is a co-founder of Smarter Remarketer and historically worked part time for the company, will retain his title of Chief Data Scientist while expanding the breadth and depth of Smarter Remarketer's machine learning and predictive analytical efforts that are the backbone of its platform.

Abbott is an internationally recognized predictive analytics expert who brings more than 25 years of experience in data mining and advanced predictive analytics to the Smarter Remarketer team. Named among the top ten most influential people in data analytics by Data Science Central, Dean recently authored “Applied Predictive Analytics,” is the co-author of “IBM SPSS Modeler Cookbook,” and is a prominent keynote speaker on these topics at events such as Predictive Analytics World.

This is the first hire Smarter Remarketer has made since securing $7 million in venture financing in a round led by Battery Ventures. Battery’s digital marketing technology portfolio includes companies such as ExactTarget (acquired: Salesforce), Marketo (IPO), Bazaarvoice (IPO), Neolane (acquired: Adobe), BlueKai and Sprinklr, among others.
This financing followed the posting of the company’s best-ever annual performance in 2013 that saw revenue growth of three times higher than the previous year and the introduction of the company’s SR2 Big Data platform, which allows retailers to engage individual website visitors in real-time based on up to several years’ worth of customer data, from behavioral through transactional.
