Epoxy Inc, a start-up building tools for professional video channels and networks, secured $2M in funding led by GRP Partners. The funding enables the company to expand the engineering team and continue building its product suite.
Epoxy helps online video channels optimize publishing, organically grow audience, increase engagement and drive monetization. Epoxy tools are designed for professional YouTube channels, multi-channel networks, the digital divisions of Hollywood studios and brands that utilize video channels.
Mark Suster, Partner at GRP Partners and a leading proponent of the online video ecosystem, joined the company’s board of directors. GRP’s portfolio of investments in the media and technology space includes the largest YouTube multi-channel network, Maker Studios. “There has been massive growth in the online video space yet few tools to help film creators to grow audiences, engage their viewers inside and outside of YouTube, measure the success of campaigns and therefore increase monetization,” said Mark Suster. “Epoxy was the best product and team I had come across to meet this market need.”
The founding team is comprised of:
- Juan Bruce: CEO, former President of Digital at Team Downey, IDEO designer, Stanford engineer and MBA
- Jason Ahmad: CPO, experienced technical lead, co-founder of NYC finance software start-up Proto and Stanford engineer
- Peter Skirko: Lead Engineer, brings experience from Adobe, analytics start-up Mixpanel and Brown University
- Brendan Wypich: Lead Designer, consulted on social technology for YouTube and also holds a design degree from Stanford
Juan and Jason created Epoxy after observing the needs of YouTubers and online video publishers. “At Team Downey we were developing, investing in and working with creators on the cutting edge of web content,” said Epoxy CEO Juan Bruce. “We saw that great content combined with smart online business operation is the recipe for success. We also became acutely aware of the real need for tools to streamline and optimize online video publishing. Our goal is to bring the same level of operational sophistication available in other online business to video.”
Jason Ahmad, Epoxy Chief Product Officer added, “People are watching video in more places and on more devices than ever before. We now have the unprecedented ability to look at exactly what's happening in a channel. Epoxy is about using that insight to better connect with audiences and empower better and more relevant content.”
