YOUi Labs Launches FLIP, a Smarter TV Solution at MWC 2013

YOUi Labs announces its latest Natural User Interface (NUI) product

BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS - YOUi Labs, the maker of uSwish, the world's first and only Natural User Interface (NUI) framework, announces its latest NUI product: FLIP. FLIP combines everything wanted and needed from a connected TV and entertainment solution - and more.

With the connected TV at the core of the living room story, FLIP is a NUI that levers full body gesturing for the full range of TV operations, changing the relationship between tablet and TV. Not only does FLIP provide a unique and customizable approach for interacting with smart TVs, FLIP provides targeted and relevant recommendations for viewing from an ever-expanding list of consolidated content providers that will be enjoyed by the entire audience.

FLIP can be ported to utilize any chipset on any platform and is optimized to take advantage of the latest technology for a fast, responsive and fluid feel for flexible user interaction and a unique user experience. Today at Mobile World Congress, YOUi Labs is showcasing FLIP with key partners and at the YOUi Labs booth.

To support FLIP's gesture-based NUI, YOUi Labs worked closely with SoftKinetics to integrate their libraries into the YOUi Labs uSwish UI engine and incorporate their 3D DepthSense camera technology used to capture viewers in the room at any given time. As a result, FLIP can detect simple hand movements to perform activities like pausing the TV or selecting what to watch, as well as displaying personalized recommendations based on the individual profiles of those in sight of the camera.

"We are proud to have our software and hardware be a part of YOUi Labs' FLIP interface solution," said Michel Tombroff, CEO of SoftKinetic. "As gesture recognition continues to grow in consumer markets around the world, we look forward to working further with YOUi Labs to provide unique, interactive living room experiences for users."

Check FLIP out and give it a try yourself.

FLIP is being shown at the Marvell booth, Hall 6 Stand 6C44 running on the Marvell Armada 1500 SoC, made for Over the Top boxes such as Google TV.

FLIP is also being shown at the YOUi Labs booth, Canada Area - Ontario Pavilion, Hall 7 Stand 7F50.

About YOUi Labs YOUi Labs is the only natural choice for developing and implementing Natural User Interface (NUI) technology and professional services that enable manufacturers of interactive TVs, smartphones, tablets, cameras and consumer electronics to differentiate themselves through their graphic interfaces.

uSwish, a YOUi Labs product, combines industry-standard design tools like Adobe After Effects, an agile workflow, and a powerful and flexible rendering engine to turn design vision into an inspiring user experience that runs on any platform, any OS and any chipset.

The result is the world's only NUI framework that creates a visually rich and responsive user experience within a significantly reduced time to market.
