FREMONT, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/13/12 -- Foxit® Corporation, a leading provider of solutions for reading, editing, creating, organizing, and securing PDF documents, today announced that Foxit Reader and PhantomPDF support Microsoft's recently announced Active Directory® Rights Management Service (AD RMS) SDK 2.0 and AD RMS Client 2.0. The Foxit Reader is a Microsoft preferred PDF reader for AD RMS 2.0, SharePoint® 2013, and SharePoint Online in Office 365 environments. Both products comply with Microsoft's IRM Protection for PDF Specification Supplement proposal for ISO 32000.
AD RMS is Microsoft's Information Rights Management (IRM) solution which protects sensitive information from unauthorized access through technologies such as encryption and rights policy enforcement.
"We are excited to partner with Foxit to extend support for PDF in AD RMS and SharePoint environments," said Dan Plastina, Information Protection team Partner Group Program Manager of Microsoft Corporation. "Foxit Reader's performance, security, and enterprise ready capabilities make it a Microsoft preferred PDF reader in AD RMS and SharePoint environments."
Key Microsoft integration features include:
- PDF File encryption and decryption - provides full featured PDF viewing, collaborating, and editing functionality for Microsoft SharePoint IRM Protector RMS enabled PDF files per the credentials and permissions of the user.
- Support Microsoft Office® workflows - seamlessly extends AD RMS to provide policy protection to PDF documents in Exchange®, Windows Server and/or desktop solutions in a similar workflow as protecting Microsoft Office documents.
- SharePoint file check-in/check-out - enables SharePoint users to easily open PDF files that are checked out from SharePoint and then check-in those files at the same location on the SharePoint server after changes are made.
- Dynamic security watermarks - Allows the creation of dynamic security watermarks to automatically display viewer identity information on protected PDF files. This provides additional security to protected files from being compromised by users copying confidential information through mechanisms such as screen shots, cameras, and video capture.
"Document security is becoming an increasing issue as enterprises are putting more and more digitalized documents on the network," said Philip G. Lee, VP of Enterprise Sales for Foxit Corporation. "We are excited to be a Microsoft preferred partner for PDF reading in AD RMS 2.0 and SharePoint environments."
