BEND, OR and LYON, FRANCE -- (Marketwire) -- 11/07/12 -- 3D PDF files can now be shared beyond the desktop to mobile devices with the release of the 3D PDF Reader application. Tech Soft 3D, established leader in engineering software development tools, extends its exclusive 3D PDF technology to millions of iPhone and iPad users through the new 3D PDF Reader, available now from the App Store. Users can easily rotate, pan, zoom and interrogate 3D data embedded within a 3D PDF file from the convenience of an iPhone or iPad. And because the 3D PDF Reader is built on the same 3D technology used in Adobe® Reader® for Desktop, users can be 100% confident that they can always accurately view their 3D PDF files.
"The 3D PDF Reader is the only reader that is well-suited to support the Model Based Enterprise," says Gavin Bridgeman, Tech Soft 3D VP of SDK products. "Our 3D PDF Reader reads both .U3D and .PRC data and as a result, we have the unique capability to visualize complex engineering data including PMI."
3D PDF is the increasingly preferred method to share 3D information in industries including construction, aerospace and defense. One major advantage of the compact, lightweight format is its widespread availability via the ubiquitous Adobe Reader. The 3D PDF Reader expands that access like never before due to the widespread adoption of iPhone and iPad.
"With the increasing use of 3D data in PDF files has come the demand for mobility so that this information can be used on the go," says David Opsahl, Executive Director, 3D PDF Consortium. "In today's fast-paced work environment, the 3D PDF Reader product from Tech Soft 3D provides a great way for users to connect with their data on mobile devices."
The flexibility and convenience of the 3D PDF Reader increases the value of software applications that output 3D PDF, and further supports a strong 3D PDF ecosystem for both development teams and the customers that they serve.
"Tech Soft 3D's mission is to help software development teams deliver successful applications," says Tech Soft 3D CEO Ron Fritz. "To be successful, our customers that use our HOOPS Publish SDK to generate rich 3D PDF data requested that these 3D PDF files be viewable on mobile devices. We're confident 3D PDF Reader will address this need and further accelerate the positive momentum behind 3D PDF."
The 3D PDF Reader can be accessed and downloaded from the App Store for a $4.99 introductory price. Organizations requiring multiple copies can purchase through Apple's volume purchasing program.
