Comedy Central is a longstanding Akamai customer, and because of its existing relationship was able to roll out this major new offering without additional infrastructure or excessive costs. Akamai's globally distributed platform is ideally positioned to support the volume that this type of engagement creates - whether streaming live or on demand - as well as the high-quality experience that customers and content owners demand.
"MotherLoad is designed to give the Comedy Central audience a customized, TV-like experience on their computers," said Beth Lewand, Vice President Digital Media, Comedy Central. "Our users want a huge selection of high-quality video and they want to get it, when they want it. That's what we're giving them."
Akamai recently recorded a webcast with Forrester's Vice President, Devices, Media, & Marketing Josh Bernoff titled, "Is Internet Video Right for your Site? Opportunities and Potential Pitfalls." The webcast discusses topics related to how and when to implement an Internet video strategies and the related advertising opportunities.
