BlumbergExcelsior Introduces Law Firm Technical Care; IT Support and Security for Solos and Small Firms

NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 01/28/10 -- BlumbergExcelsior, Inc., a leading supplier of online legal applications and software for law firms, has introduced Law Firm Technical Care™, a suite of hardware and software technical support and online security services for solo practitioners and small law firms. For $49.95 per month, Law Firm Technical Care supports a law firm with three hours a month of secure remote installation, diagnostic and repair services for servers, desktop computers, laptops, networking devices, printers, PDAs and other hardware. Software support includes installation, set-up, configuration and troubleshooting of operating systems, MS Office, Adobe®, Quicken® and other widely used software programs.

Law Office Technical Care offers backup, storage and recovery of up to 5GB of data. Once the user configures the free backup software, backup and file compression are automatic over the internet using secure 128-bit SSL Encryption or a 256-bit AES Encryption Key, the same type used by the U.S military.

The service's Keylogging Defense System™ encrypts every keystroke at the keyboard level and then reroutes those encrypted keystrokes directly to the browser. This prevents keyloggers from stealing keystrokes as users navigate the internet guarding against hackers getting access to private information, passwords and PINs. The keylogger defense system turns on automatically when the user opens a browser allowing for secure use of online legal applications and browsing of confidential information.

File Shredder™ prevents unauthorized recovery of deleted files from computer hard disks. Many people delete files and erroneously think they are gone from their hard drive. In fact, there are ways to recover deleted files. File Shredder overwrites the portion of the hard drive that was previously allocated to the files several times with random unintelligible bytes. File Shredder offers three levels of protection, up to military standard.

Law Firm Technical Care also includes Firewall Protection™ to protect computers from attack, System Cleaner™ to help computers operate efficiently and Internet Cleaner™, which eliminates unwanted and potentially privacy compromising files that web browsing leaves on computers. The $49.95 monthly fee also includes teleconferencing services. Each customer can host a teleconference with up to ninety-six callers, and pay only the long distance phone charges. There is no fee for hosting the teleconference.

In announcing Law Firm Technical Care, Bob Blumberg, President and CEO, said, "Many small law firms and solos find that supporting their hardware and software is time consuming and expensive. Installing and managing operating systems and applications programs create a great strain on the firm, particularly in an environment where deadlines are pressing. Repairing or replacing computers is costly, but not being able to operate them or address technical problems the moment they occur, can be even more costly. Most small law firms and solos have neither the time nor resources to staff an IT department. As such, their computer systems are extremely vulnerable to crashes, viruses, hacking and other security attacks. The Law Firm Technical Care service provides solos and small firms with affordable, yet comprehensive, technical services. By outsourcing their technical solutions needs to experts in the technical support field, lawyers and their staff can focus on what they do best, addressing the needs of their clients."

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
