Flash Comes to Android

Flash Lite 3.1 to be precise, which should give users a more complete web browsing experience

HTC has showed off its third Android phone, a little anti-fingerprint touch screen gismo called Hero that will surely be a hero to Adobe since it's the first Android phone to support Adobe Flash.

Flash Lite 3.1 to be precise, which should give users a more complete web browsing experience, the ability to interact, and access to Flash-based web content.

HTC has also joined the Open Screen Project, the industry effort to deliver a consistent runtime across screens.

Apple still has no truck with Flash.

Hero also has a snazzy new customizable user interface called Sense in development for a few years that will reportedly turn up on HTC's Windows-based phones too.

The Android dingus will be available in Europe next month, Asia this summer and the US by the end of the year. It includes Microsoft Exchange support to appeal to business.

Smartphone sales were up 13% to 36 million units in Q1 when PC sales dropped 6.5% to 67 million according to Gartner.
